Maria Isabel Valverde, 63, of Gilroy, CA, passed away on May 4, 2014 surrounded by her family.

She was born in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico and has been part of the Gilroy community for over 30 years.

She was survived by her mother, Artemisa Armenta Duarte, her siblings, Juan Fernando Rivera Armenta and Guadalupe Lopez Armenta, her daughters Iris Hernandez (Abraham Hernandez) and Maria Valverde-Miracle (Christopher Miracle), and her grandchildren, Abraham Hernandez, Larissa Hernandez, Gabriel Hernandez, Santiago Hernandez, James Miracle and Joaquin Miracle.

She fought a short battle with Leukemia and left this world on her terms, fighting till the end.  She was a true example of a couragous strong-willed woman who, with her faith, was not afraid of death if that was God's plan for her.

Memorial services will be held at Habings Family Funeral Home on Thursday May 8, 2014, viewing from 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM and the Rosary at 7:30 PM.  On Friday, May 9, 2014, mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 1:30 PM followed by burial at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
