Maria Luisa Narvaez, age 83 of Elk Grove, CA, passed away on August 2, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Maria Luisa was born on November 15, 1939 in Piedras Negras, Mexico. Maria Luisa immigrated with her family from Mexico and came to Gilroy, CA from Eagle Pass TX in 1955. In 1959 Maria Luisa met the love of her life, Ruben Narvaez. They married in 1962 and were happily married for 61 years and had two children, Ruben Jr and Lidia. Maria Luisa was very outgoing and a great cook, she was known for her Spanish rice, tamales and homemade tortillas. Maria Luisa retired after 29 years of service with Gilroy Foods in 1994.

Maria Luisa was predeceased in death by her parents Antonio and Consuelo Lucio, brother Eustacio Lucio, sister Beatrice De La Rosa and her loving son Ruben Jr Narvaez. She is survived by her husband Ruben Narvaez Sr. of Elk Grove, daughter Lidia Narvaez of Elk Grove, Grandson Nicholas Mosley of Sacramento, Francisco Antonio (Ventura) Lucio of Gilroy, Robert (Margret) Lucio of Los Banos, Gregorio (Adela)Lucio of Gilroy, Carmen (Valedez) of Las Vegas, Olga Lucio of Morgan Hill, Vincente Lucio of Las Vegas, James Lucio of Gilroy and Jose (Sandy) Lucio of Gilroy and many more family and friends.

Services will be held on August 15, 2023, with viewing between 10 am — 11: 30 am followed by a Rosary service at 11:30 am at Habings Funeral Home at 129 4th Street Gilroy, CA.

In addition, a memorial mass will also be held at 2 pm at St Mary's Church on August 15, 2023.
