Maria Elena Figueroa, age 89, a symbol of strength and unwavering resolve, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, surrounded by family she built and protected. Born on July 5, 1936, in a small town in Durango Mexico, Maria's life was a testament of her perseverance against all odds.

From a young age, Maria faced challenges and hardship. She crossed the border to help a family to care for their Kids, taking immense risks to escape poverty and find opportunity and along the way learning English on her own.

In the United States, Maria worked tirelessly, often holding Multiple jobs just to make ends meat. Maria was the matriarch of the family, known for her delicious Enchiladas her spiritual experience as a devout Catholic. Her Home was the central gathering place, always filled with music, laughter and an open door for anyone in need of a meal. The love she had for dancing radiated in her smile. Her love of children showed when her great Granddaughter entered this world.

She led by example, teaching her family the importance of faith, hard work and fighting for what was right and those who didn't have a voice.

She is survived by her loving children: Maria Elda Porras, Jesus Manuel Figueroa, Jose Luise Figueroa and Sandra Lee Figueroa Ayala; her adoring Grandchildren, Deanna, Andres, Jesse, Mariah, Taylor, Shelby and Noel. Great granddaughter Josianna Elena Brakel and numerous Nieces, nephews, and extended family members who carry a piece of her spirit within them. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jesus Figueroa.

Though her physical suffering has ended, she is finally at peace, her memory will continue to guide and inspire all who knew her.
