María Louisa Cid, 66, of Gilroy passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 of health complications.
Born on June 14, 1950 in Mission, Texas, she was also known as Light Feather due to her Yaqui heritage. She was the daughter of the late Lázaro Villarreal and María Magdalena Villarreal, and sister to nine siblings.
Gilroy, California became her lifelong residency. She worked at Gilroy Foods, meeting her husband, José Carlos Cid, and marrying him in 1969. After retiring from Gilroy Foods, she started her own merchandise selling business, balancing her passions -- her family, charrería , rodeo, plants and gardens -- while lovingly touching so many people with her artistry and compassion.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, José Carlos Cid; her son, Cesario Cid and her daughter, María Magdalena Cid; their spouses, Tina Cid and Orlando Martinez ; three grandchildren, Christopher, Cesario Jesús "CJ" and Jacob, and many family and friends.
Maria Louisa Cid had such a loving heart. The love and loyalty she had for her family and close friends was inspiring. She will be greatly missed and loved forever.
A Jehovah memorial service will be conducted at 5pm Friday, May 19, 2017 at Habing Funeral Home followed by a Rosary at 7pm. A service at Kingdom Hall will take place 3pm Saturday, May 20, 2017 and a graveside service will be conducted at 4:30pm at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Gilroy.
The family will receive friends Friday, from 1pm until 9pm at the funeral home.
