Aurora "Mary" Monroy passed away in Gilroy on December 26, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband, Jorge, whom she had been married for 50 years; her children, Laura Chavarria (Alfredo), Norma Galvan (Ruben), Aurora Groden (Ken) and Jorge, Jr. Monroy (Estefania); her grandchildren, Jacqueline, Anthony, Alexis, Timothy, Emma, Andrew, Ayden, Elijah, Aurorita, Ruben, Jr., Angel, Thomas, Damien and David; her mother, Antonia Becerra; brothers, Jesus and Ramon Amador and sisters, Isabel, Teresa and Carmen Amador. Also, many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father; Jesus Amador and brother Raul Amador.

Mary was a longtime resident of Gilroy. She enjoyed caring for children, whether it was her own children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews or family friends. Being known as "Grandma" by all. One of her greatest joys was being with her family and hanging out with her best friend, Mary Mungia.


Memorial Mass will be held Friday, January 3, 2014, 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, Gilroy.
