Beloved wife, mother, and Grandmother Margarita Vaca Ramirez passed away peacefully on the morning of December 23, 2017. Her children, their spouses, and grandchildren surrounded her during her final hours.

She was born in Huanimaro, Guanajuato, Mexico on February 22, 1939.  "Mango," as her siblings knew her, was the second of seven Children to her late parents, Jose Cervantes Vaca and Carmen Jaime Vaca of Porterville, CA. In her younger years, she worked at her father's store in Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato, Mexico. One day in 1959 she met a young man who fell off a bike outside the store and turned out to be the love of her life.  That man was Jesus Ramirez, a laborer from California who was on vacation. They maintained a long distance courtship and finally married in 1961.  She followed him to California and settled in San Diego County where they lived for 16 years. She devoted herself first and foremost to being a mother and homemaker and raising four wonderful children Jesus, Irma, Javier, and Carmen.

The Family moved to Gilroy in 1978 so that her husband could pursue better employment opportunities. As the kids grew older she decided to work and became a custodial Janitor at Gavilan College where she worked for 15 years.

Margarita's greatest passions were family and to cook. She could cook up a meal in no time and it was always delicious. The Ramirez household was always the center of the universe for gatherings of the extended family, and they would come from afar to celebrate numerous events such as birthdays and holidays. She would look around and let out a big sigh, and it was then you knew she was content.

After retirement, she developed a passion for wanderlust. She would always say, "Vamos a tirar rostro".  Jesus and Margarita were inseparable. They moved to   Mexico to live for 6 years, and during retirement they travelled the U.S., Italy, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Hawaii, and on Cruises through Mexico and the Bahamas. For five consecutive years they participated in 10 day Virgin of Guadalupe pilgrimages through Baja California.

Eventually the growing family of grandchildren and her health concerns brought them back to Gilroy. They were regulars at the Gilroy Senior Center where they had many friends, and developed new ones at Denny's, which was their favorite breakfast hangout.

Margarita joins her parents and her brother Jose Vaca Jr. (Pepe) in the loving embrace of god. She has left us with a hole in our hearts, but her nurturing, kindness, and self-sacrifice qualities will forever serve as examples that persist in our memories to fill that hole until we see her again.

Margarita is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jesus Ramirez; four children, Jesus (and Susie) Ramirez, Irma (and Rick) Romo, Javier (and Maribel) Ramirez, Carmen (and Luis) Manzo; and seven grandchildren: Mellyna, Veronica, Emilio, Jesus Javier, Luis Adrian, Andre, and Diego. Her siblings Juan Vaca (of Porterville), Baudelio Vaca (of Manteca), Consuelo Munoz (of Bakersfield), Carolina Vaca (of Salinas), Sanjuana Lopez (of Porterville).  Numerous members of the extended family and friends, we will all sorely miss her.

Visitation at Habing Funeral Home, Gilroy on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 2pm – 9pm, Vigil Service at 6:30 pm.

Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, Gilroy on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at 2:00 pm.

Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.

Querida esposa, madre y abuela Margarita Vaca Ramírez falleció pacíficamente por la mañana del 23 de diciembre de 2017. Fue acompañada por sus hijos, sus cónyuges y nietos durante sus horas finales.

Nació en Huanímaro, Guanajuato, México, el 22 de febrero de 1939 . "Mango",  su apodo por sus hermanos, era la segunda de siete niños a sus difuntos padres, José Cervantes Vaca y Carmen Jaime Vaca de Porterville, CA. En su juventud, trabajó en la tienda de su padre en el Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato, México. Un día en 1959 conoció a un joven que se cayó de una bicicleta fuera de la tienda y resultó ser el amor de su vida. Ese hombre era Jesús Ramírez, un obrero de California quien estaba de vacaciones. Mantuvieron un noviazgo a larga distancia y finalmente se casaron en 1961.   Ella lo siguió a California y se estableció en el condado de San Diego donde vivieron durante 16 años. Ella se dedicó principalmente a ser madre y ama de casa y criar a cuatro niños maravillosos: Jesús, Irma, Javier y Carmen.

La familia se trasladó a Gilroy en 1978 para que su marido pudiera alcanzar mejores oportunidades de empleo. A medida que los niños crecían decidió trabajar y alcanzo un empleo de custodia de limpieza en el Gavilan College en donde trabajó durante 15  años.

Las pasiones más grandes de Margarita eran la familia y cocinar. Ella podía cocinar una comida en poco tiempo y siempre era delicioso. El hogar de los Ramírez siempre fue el centro del universo para las reuniones de la familia extendida, y vendrían de lejos para celebrar numerosos eventos como cumpleaños y fiestas . Ella miraba a su alrededor y dejaría escapar un gran suspiro, y fue entonces cuando uno sabia que estaba contenta.

Después de su jubilación, desarrolló una pasión por los viajes. Ella siempre decía: "Vamos a tirar rostro ". Jesús y Margarita fueron inseparables. Se trasladaron a México a vivir por 6 años, y durante la jubilación viajaron por los Estados Unidos, Italia, Egipto, Jordania, Israel, Hawái, y en cruceros a través de México y las Bahamas. Durante cinco años consecutivos  participaron en las  peregrinaciones  a la Virgen de Guadalupe a través de Baja California.

Finalmente, la creciente familia de nietos y sus preocupaciones de salud los trajeron de vuelta a Gilroy. Eran habituales en el Centro de Mayores (Senior Center) de Gilroy donde tenían muchos amigos, y desarrollaron nuevas amistades en el Denny's, su lugar de reunión favorito para el desayuno.

Margarita se une a sus padres y su hermano José Vaca Jr. ( Pepe ) en el amoroso abrazo de dios. Ella nos ha dejado un hueco en nuestros corazones, pero sus cualidades de crianza, bondad y sacrificio serán para siempre un ejemplo y persistirán en nuestros recuerdos para llenar ese vacío hasta que la veamos nuevamente.

A Margarita le sobrevive su esposo Jesús compañero por 56 años y cuatro hijos, Jesús (y Susie) Ramírez, Irma (y Rick) Romo, Javier (y Maribel) Ramírez, Carmen (y Luis) Manzo; y siete nietos: Mellyna , Verónica, Emilio, Jesús Javier, Luis Adrián, André y Diego.  Sus hermanos Juan Vaca (de Porterville) , Baudelio Vaca (de Manteca) , Consuelo Muñoz (de Bakersfield), Carolina Vaca (de Salinas) , Sanjuana López (de Porterville ).  Numerosos miembros de la familia extendida y amigos,  todos vamos a sentir su ausencia.
