Margaret Jane Weisser (Vera-Martinez / Staley) passed away unexpectedly on November 17, 2017.

A devoted mother and grandmother, she is survived by her three daughters, Rebecca Vera-Martinez, Antoinette Vera-Martinez, and Teresa Golding, granddaughter Jessica Beckmeier and grandson Dogen Eyeler, as well as sons-in-law Michael Golding, Jerry Eyeler, and Freddie Beckmeier.

Maggie was born in Spokane, Washington and grew up in Santa Barbara, California, where she met and married Joseph Vera Martinez, the father of her children. She and Joe raised their family in Culver City, California.  She lived with her second husband, Don Staley, in Malibu, as an estate manager, then in Oxnard and Carpinteria, California, and eventually moved to Winston, Oregon.

Maggie Daye, as she was known, was an international entertainer. With her powerful voice and delightful personality, she charmed her audiences for over 50 years. Her final performance was only two weeks before her passing.

Maggie always put others before herself.  She was a kind, generous, and talented woman with a wonderful sense of humor.  She was vivacious and independent, and traveled frequently with her beloved dogs, visiting her family and friends around the country.  She loved animals -- they were drawn to her -- and spent much time volunteering at animal shelters.  She found joy in painting, most recently creating unique and enchanting portraits of pets and people.

Maggie's vibrancy and zest for life carried through to her last days, which were spent with her dear friends Jeanna Boyd and Carl Head.  She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Maggie will be laid to rest at Santa Barbara Cemetery.
