Obituary

Magdalena "ChaCha" Sanchez courageously lost her battle with ovarian cancer at O'Conner Hospital on April 28th in San Jose, California at the age of 63.

Maggie is survived by her husband of twenty years Danny Velador; her daughter Veronica Castro, and her three children, Angel, Myriah, and Christian; her son Serafin Castro, Jr., and his beloved wife Gloria and their two children Serafin and Joseph; and her step-daughter Rosemary Velador, and her two sons, Isaac and Johnny all of Gilroy She is further survived by her mother, Josephine Sanchez, her brothers Ruben Sanchez; Richard Sanchez and his wife Hilda of Gilroy. Her sisters Priscilla Cardoza and her husband Jose of Modesto, and Josephine Viveros and her husband Salvador of Gilroy. She was a devoted grandmother to five grandchildren, a loving aunt to six nieces and nephews and a great aunt to two great nephews and two great nieces. She was a dear niece to her aunts Mary Alfaro, Margaret Gonzalez, Jose Gonzalez, Manuel Gonzalez, and Louie Gonzalez of Gilroy. She was a loving cousin to many, a true friend to several. She is proceeded in death by her late father, Mr. Prisciliano "Pete" Sanchez, her loving aunt Carmen Gonzalez, her uncle Sebastian Sanchez, her cousin Victor Sanchez, and the late Serafin Castro of San Antonio, Texas.

Maggie was born on February 22, 1952 in Gilroy, California to Prisciliano and Josephine Sanchez. She graduated from Gilroy High School in 1970. Shortly thereafter she married her former husband Serafin Castro. From early on she was raised to be a strong independent woman with a strong work ethic. From early on working in factories and canneries within the bay area to food services in her latter years for St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy to where she retired into her golden years with her husband Danny by her side. Maggie was selfless. She lived for her children and grandchildren and was the shinning ray of light to those she touched. From her cheerful laugh, to that gleaming smile, she could always be seen laughing, despite suffering in silence. She courageously fought her battle not for herself, but for the sake of those whom she loved and cared for. She will be dearly missed by many, and her gleaming smile will be forever etched in our hearts.
