IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louisa Ann
Broudy
July 8, 1955 – April 14, 2017
Louisa Broudy passed away peacefully on April 14 in Burbank, California. Born in Gilroy in 1955, Louisa was the middle daughter to Guadalupe and Sarah Aceves of Gilroy.
Louisa went to elementary school at Saint Marys Catholic Church and to Notre Dame High School in Salinas. After high school, she went on to San Jose State University where she met her husband Steve in 1974. They married in 1979 and settled down in Studio City. They would have been married for 38 years this October, and were a couple for the past 42 years. Their first child, Michael, was born in 1987 and their daughter Ellen came along in 1989.
She joined the California State Department of Corporations in 1977 and rose through the ranks. She ultimately attained the highest level in the department that wasn't a direct appointment of the governor, Deputy Commissioner. Her formal training was as an accountant, but her role with the DOC was to manage the Department to meet its responsibilities to the State and its constituents. Louisa enjoyed her job and working with her co-workers.
Louisa was a remarkable woman who touched everyone in different ways. She enjoyed being with people and they enjoyed being with her. She was warm and caring and always knew the right thing to do in difficult situations. She had a loving family, life-long friends and a successful professional life. Not one to sit around the house, Louisa enjoyed getting out, going places and learning new things. Louisa was an accomplished baker and loved to cook for family and friends. In addition, she loved doing things for others. This was one of the things that gave her great joy. She was, courageous, thoughtful, considerate, selfless and loving.
Louisa is survived by her husband Steve, son Michael, daughter Ellen, her two sisters Sylvia and Lorraine, and her mother Sarah. Her father Lupe passed away in 2002.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network: https://www.pancan.org/
A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, April 25, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in North Hollywood. Louisa will be laid to rest in Gilroy.
