Louis A. Yurek , 67, of Tres Pinos, California passed away on March 6 ^th , 2021 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Newark, New Jersey on June 8 ^th , 1953. Son of the late Louis and Helen Yurek. He is survived by his spouse, Eileen Yurek, his loving children and numerous grandchildren.

Louis proved to be academically successful from a very young age as he persevered to hold honors titles from elementary grades throughout his college career, whilst simultaneously serving student government titles. He attended Cornell University where he was the founder and first president of the Cornell Astronomical Society – who resume to take part in ground-breaking research and continued to contact Lou as an advisor up until his passing.

Lou entered his lifelong career in Computer Science in 1979, working as a diagnostics engineer, tech support, and escalation manager for companies like BTI, INTUIT, Unison, and IBM. He devotedly worked for IBM for 23 years, even throughout his cancer diagnosis, treatment, and passing.

He loved his pets, skydiving, ultimate frisbee, photography, watching baseball and football, astronomy, science, cooking, and good music. In his lifetime, he traveled to 10 countries, 36 out of 50 states in America, and mastered classical guitar. Lou named his greatest accomplishment as "raising such a wonderful family, my entire life's work, and attaining good friends."

He will be forever loved and sorely missed by those he has impacted worldwide with his wit, humor, kindness, and love.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tres Pinos, California. Due to COVID-19 safety regulations, this service has already reached full capacity of attendees.

In lieu of flowers, it is Lou's personal wish that donations be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the ASPCA.
