Obituary

Lloyd Brent Dickson, 82, of Hollister California, passed away late evening on January 3 rd 2022 at a hospital in Sonora California. After a fun weekend playing in the snow with children and grandchildren, Brent suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and became unresponsive early afternoon on Saturday.

Brent was born in Provo, Utah to Lloyd & Doris Dickson on March 1 st 1939.  He had a younger brother and sister, Steve and Linda.  He graduated from Provo High School in 1957.  He married Jeniel May Prothero on August 15th 1956.  Brent and Jeniel lived in Utah until 1963. During that time they welcomed Brian, Brenda and Dennis into the family. Brent graduated from Brigham Young University in 1963 with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and took a job at Motorola in Arizona.  While working at Motorola, Brent completed his MS degree at ASU in 1967 and during that time Richard and Loren were added to the family. Brent became a cofounder of Advanced Memory Systems (AMS) and moved his family to Sunnyvale California in 1968.  He was one of many innovative leaders in the Semiconductor industry.  James was added to the family in 1972. Brent resigned from AMS in 1976 when he purchased Signatone Corp. and spent the rest of his career running the business and engineering and selling semiconductor test equipment. He was well known throughout Silicon Valley for providing high quality, failure analysis probing equipment. Signatone is now managed by his four sons and daughter.

Brent was a brilliant engineer and a wonderful father, husband, employer, neighbor, missionary, minister, leader and friend to all who knew him.  He was full of integrity, he practiced what he preached, he always had a smile on his face and he never avoided an opportunity to help someone in need. Brent loved serving in the community and in various church positions throughout his life.  His greatest joy was giving his grandchildren patriarchal blessings and performing their wedding-sealing-ceremonies in the Oakland Temple. One high point and most enjoyable time in his life was while serving a full-time mission with his wife Jeniel, in the England London South Mission, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from February 2004 to August 2005.

Over the past 2 years Brent spent every waking moment caring for his wife, Jeniel who passed away from the effects of Parkinson's disease on November 22 nd 2021. They were bound together with love in life and inseparable in death, companions forever.

Brent is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Doris Dickson, his wife Jeniel, his son Dennis and his brother Steve Dickson.

Brent is survived by his sister, Linda Fuller, his children Brian & Debbie Dickson, Brenda & Randy Griffith, Jan Dickson, Richard & Tammy Dickson, Loren & Annette Dickson and James & Kelly Dickson. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
