Lela Rose Painter, was born July 23, 1934 and passed away on October 29, 2016.
Our most precious and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles E. Painter, son Eric Painter, daughters June Kern (Mike) and Karen Berger (Curtis), grandchildren William Leonard, Charlie Leonard and Mikey Kern, Adriel A. Berger, Cassia S. Berger and Sherah N. Berger.
Preceded to Our Lord Jesus Christ by her son, Roy Painter, grandson, Jamin DelRay Berger, parents, Floyd and Mary Rizer, and her brother Randolph Rizer.
Lela committed her life to Jesus Christ in 1979, and faithfully attended Glad Tidings Church in San Juan Bautista, CA where John and Jo Amelio are the pastors.
Lela was born in Mt. Savage, MD, and at the age of eight her and her mother and father, along with her brother, moved to Detroit, MI, where her dad took a job working for Cadillac. She went to Southwestern High School, but actually graduated attending night school in Sacramento, CA while pregnant with her son Eric. She said her teacher was so nervous about her dilivering the baby in his classroom that he told her to just stay home and he would give her a passing grade - but she went to class anyway. The teacher's wife gave him a book on how to deliver a baby.
Chuck and Lela moved to Sacramento, CA in 1958. Chuck was hired by Aerojet. When jobs were hard to come by in California they would move back to Michigan where Chuck would work for one of the big three auto makers. They even lived in Pocatello, Idaho for a few months but were unable to stay due to lack of employment.
Lela held jobs at J. L. Hudson in Detroit, JC Penney in Hollister, San Juan Elementary School cafeteria in San Juan Bautista, and Walmart in Gilroy, but her biggest and most rewarding job was being the best wife, mother, grandmother, friend and prayer warrior you could ever hope for.
Our love for her is unspeakable in any earthly language and our hearts are broken that she is not here with us, but we do know that she is truly enjoying being present with the Lord Jesus Christ her Savior, and her precious family and friends who are already present with Him. We will soon be together again.
