IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Laverne
Gorman
March 16, 1932 – December 22, 2020
Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Laverne Gorman, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.
Laverne was born on March 16, 1932 in Hartshorne Oklahoma to Floyd Clinton Bruton and Addie Mae Bruton (Phillips). She didn't stay in Oklahoma very long as she and her family packed up all their belongings to move west to California. In 1937, Laverne started kindergarten at the old San Ysidro school in Gilroy, California. She later went on to graduate from Gilroy High School in 1950 but not before marrying the love of her life, Joseph Gorman. Joe and Laverne married in Reno, Nevada on January 15, 1950. Both Joe and Laverne took the words "until death do you part" very seriously and they kept that promise to each other. They enjoyed a 70-year marriage.
Laverne worked for a short time at the Gilroy Dispatch in the late 1960's as a bookkeeper. After that, she spent the next 15 years as the Office Supervisor for the Gilroy Credit Bureau before retiring in 1984 to be a stay-at-home grandma.
Laverne enjoyed going to her church and attending church social gatherings. At one time, she was the church pianist for the First Baptist Church in Gilroy. Her greatest love however, were her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored with all her heart. To the little ones, she was known as Mimi, Grandma, or Grandma Patty, a nickname bestowed on her by one of the grandchildren for the endless loving "pats" she gave them.
Laverne was preceded in death by her parents Floyd Clinton Bruton and Addie Mae Bruton (Phillips) and a brother Jerold Bruton.
Laverne is survived by her husband Joseph Gorman, children Christopher Gorman (Dawn), Steven Gorman (Donna Tapella), Laura Harbert (Chris), brother Don Bruton and more than 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The world is less bright without you in it
but everyone you touched will carry your spirit
Death leaves a heartache that no one can heal
love leaves a memory no one can steal.
