IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Katherine Patricia
Hawkins
October 27, 1928 – June 10, 2025
On June 10, 2025, Katherine Patricia "Pat" Hawkins passed peacefully surrounded by family at her "home on the hill" in Belmont, CA. Her beauty radiated in brightness and spirit to all she encountered while she lived those joyous 96 years traveling the world, gardening, directing choirs, serving on altar guilds, singing in community choruses (even at Carnegie Hall, NY), volunteering at Filoli Gardens, Encore Books on the Square, and especially loving her family and friends.
Pat was born to Deal and Arvilla Christensen, and her brother Deal "Bud" Christensen Jr. on October 27, 1928, in Watsonville, CA. She graduated from Reedley High School in 1946, continued at the University of California at Berkeley where she met the love of her life, Fred C. Hawkins. Both graduated in 1950, Pat with a B.A. in Liberal Arts, English & Speech and Fred with a B.S. in Economics and Foreign Trade. Upon Fred's return from the Merchant Marines, they married at Grace Cathedral in1952. They made their 1st home in Bremerton, WA, moved to Palo Alto 2 years later and were blessed with two daughters Debbie and Lori. Pat's attention to detail made her one of the best administrative assistants in the medical field. After the 1955 flood in Palo Alto, they moved to their "home on the hill" in Belmont in 1960, where they watched the hawks soar above the trees with views of San Francisco and beyond. This home would be the soul and breath of their lives, love, and family until their deaths.
Pat dressed to the nines for any occasion and would light up a room just by walking in, full of grace, style, and a twinkle in her eye that just captured you. She was a beacon of hope and love for anyone she met.
Pat and Fred are survived by 2 daughters: Debbie Roach (Chris), Lori Perri (Don) and 4 grandchildren: Roxanne Roach, Maxine Wolfe (Ty), Joshua & Kyle Perri (Raquel), and 4 great-grandchildren: Julian Roach, Ayla and Lennox Wolfe, and Redd Perri. Pats never-ending love, joy, laughter, and spark for adventure will be missed by all, but our memories of her will be in our hearts forever. Keep dancing mom!
