Julia Leticia (Lety) Estrada
June 9, 1936 – June 1, 2014

God saw you getting tired
when a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped His arms around you,
And whispered, "Come unto me".
You didn't deserve what you went through,
And so He gave you rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
So when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain.
I could not wish you to come back,
to suffer that all again.

Lety was born in Rio Hondo, Zacapa, Guatemala to Hermilia de Leon and Luis Beltran Aldana. She moved to Guatemala City to continue her education where she met and married Jose Estrada. In 1963 they and their three children immigrated to the United States. First living in Chicago, Illinois, Jose was transferred by Mack Trucks to the San Francisco Bay Area, they settled in Hayward, California. For the last 27 years she made her home in Gilroy, CA.

Lety was a determined woman, who in spite of her inability to speak English fluently was recognized for top sales by Tupperware and Avon. Later in life with her daughter, Evelyn, she established a successful boutique, Guatemala Exclusives, in San Juan Bautista, CA.

Lety's motivation in life was her family and she instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of education, hard work, unconditional love, and devotion to God. She was the sister and aunt everyone loved and she gave of herself unselfishly.

Lety enjoyed home decorating, gardening, cooking for family and friends, and buying presents for her grandchildren. She loved the Christmas season and live it to its fullest. She thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren's birthday parties, and was the first to gather candies when a piñata broke. She was a devoted and respected member of the Mormon Church and a loved and cherished member of the Spanish language congregation.

Lety is survived by her husband, Jose Estrada, four sisters and two brothers, her loving children, Lillian (Dave) Castillo Caserza, Evelyn (Tom) Jammal Brokaw and Gustavo (Michelle) Estrada, and her precious grandchildren, Emelie and Stephanie Castillo, Dennis and Rachelle Caserza, Lisa and PJ (Cierra) Jammal, Gustavo, Onalee, Lucas, Nikkolaus and Fernando Estrada, and numerous adoring nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Drs. Robert Levan and Elsie Madrid and the Gilroy Health and Rehabilitation staff for the loving care they provided Lety during the last months of her life.

Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by Habing Family Funeral Home (129 Fourth St. Gilroy, CA, 95020). The funeral will take place Friday, June 6 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 7999 Miller Avenue, Gilroy, CA 95020. 9-10 a.m.viewing, 10:30 a.m. funeral, followed by interment at Gavilan Hills Cemetery.

Dios vio que ella estaba cansada y una cura no era posible.
Así que la cubrió con sus brazos y le murmuro a su oído "Ven conmigo"
No merecía tanto sufrimiento y el descanso le dio.

Lety nació en Río Hondo, Zacapa, Guatemala, hija de Hermilia de León y Luis Beltran Aldana. Se trasladó a ciudad de Guatemala para continuar sus estudios donde conoció y se casó con José Estrada. En 1963 ellos con sus tres hijos emigraron a los Estados Unidos. Primero viviendo en Chicago, Illinois, José fue transferido por la compañía Mack Trucks a la bahía de San Francisco, y se asentaron en Hayward, California. Durante los últimos 27 años vivió en Gilroy, CA.

Lety era una mujer decidida, que a pesar de no hablar el inglés con fluidez fue reconocida por ventas superiores de Tupperware y Avon. Más adelante fundo con su hija, Evelyn, la tienda Guatemala Exclusives en San Juan Bautista, CA.

La motivación de Lety en vida era su familia e inculcó la importancia de la educación, trabajo, amor y devoción a Dios en sus hijos y nietos. Ella era la hermana y tía que todos amaban y dio de sí misma desinteresadamente.

Lety disfrutaba el cuidado de su casa, la jardinería, cocinar para la familia y amigos, y comprar regalos para sus nietos. Ella amaba la temporada navideña y la vivía al máximo. Disfrutaba de las fiestas de cumpleaños de sus nietos y siempre era la primera persona en recoger caramelos cuando se rompía una piñata. Era una devota y respetada miembra de la Iglesia de Jesús Cristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días, y una querida y apreciada miembra de la congregación de habla hispana.

A Lety le sobreviven su esposo, José Estrada, sus hermanas Cony Aldana, Mery de Behar (Enrique), Lesbia de Leal (Victor), Thelma de Phillips (Ron), sus hermanos Salvador (Ana Maria) y Luis Fernando (Ana Maria), , sus hijos amorosos, Lillian (Dave) Castillo Caserza, Evelyn Brokaw Jammal (Tom) y Gustavo (Michelle) Estrada, sus nietos queridos Emelie y Stephanie Castillo, Dennis y Rachelle Caserza, Lisa y PJ (Cierra) Jammal, Gustavo, Onalee, Lucas, Nikkolaus y Fernando Estrada, y numerosos sobrinas y sobrinos que la recuerdan con mucho cariño.

Arreglos funerarios están siendo coordinados por funeraria Habing Family (129 Fourth St.,Gilroy, CA, 95020). El funeral tendrá lugar el viernes, 6 de junio en la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días (7999 Miller Avenue, Gilroy, CA 95020 a las 10:30, seguido de internamiento en el cementerio de Gavilan Hills en Gilroy.
