It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother,and great grandmother, Judith (Judy) Barbosa. She died at home on September 3, 2025, after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family and love.

Judy was born on May 22, 1943 and was a lifelong resident of Santa Clara and San Benito Counties. She was a bus driver for Morgan Hill Unified and Salinas Union High School Districts for over 30 years. She had a passion for cooking, especially for the holidays. She enjoyed trying new things and coming up with new recipes of her own. She was involved with the San Juan Bautista Mission as a docent and also participated in Living History Days at the San Juan Bautista State Park. You could often find her dressed in costume as a pioneer cook, cooking over an open  flame, recipes that were true to the time period.

When she wasn't cooking she enjoyed spending time with her family and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her daughter Theresa Da Rosa, She is survived by her husband of 63 years Ernest Barbosa, her daughters Rosemarie Barbosa-Nicolson (Aaron) and Diana Barbosa-Powning (Shane), her five grandchildren, Lisa Martin (Vince), Mary Marvel (Matt), Tiffney DaRosa, Jacob Powning, and Natalie Powning. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

We will celebrate her life with a parlor service at Habing Family Funeral Home on September 10, 2025 at 10:00 am with internment immediately following at the St. Mary Cemetery in Gilroy.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the American Cancer Society in her name would be greatly appreciated.
