Josephine Mary Ann Falcone was born on January 3 ^rd , 1924 in Gilroy and passed away on January 30 ^th , 2023.  She lived in Gilroy for 94 years.  She later moved to Atterdag Village in Solvang, California to join her son's family.

Her parents were Carmen and Jenny Filice—both immigrants from Calabria, Italy—who settled in Gilroy and were employed at the Filice & Perrelli cannery.  She married John Falcone of Hollister, California on May 7 ^th , 1950.  John's parents hailed from Calabria as well.

Josephine raised two boys, James and John.  Much of the wonderful memories about Josephine come from her cousins who immigrated after Josephine was married.  She was very gracious and assisted with getting them integrated into American society and ultimately in becoming citizens of the U.S. They all prospered and raised families in the Gilroy area.

Her sons were active in music and sports.  There always seemed to be kids over either practicing music in the garage or watching sports.  There continue to be legendary stories of Josephine's breakfasts, lunches, and dinners that she prepared for her sons' friends visiting.

Her son James played in local bands, and she and her husband traveled to many concerts to watch him perform during the radical 60's music era.

They followed their son John to many basketball games through high school and junior college, and she later became a basketball fan watching both college and pro games.

She was a member of the Jezebelles women's club where she had many friends, many of which helped each other in their elderly years.

After her husband's passing in 1988, Josephine enjoyed volunteering weekly at the Catholic church. She was always well liked by her neighbors, and seemed to have a calming affect with young adults who visited her often to talk and discuss life challenges.

She is survived by her son John, daughter in-laws Helen and Martha, grandchildren Francesca, Anthony, and Mia, and great-grandchildren Reagan and Collin.

Even at 99 years old, she will be missed by her family and friends.  We are all grateful to those who assisted with caring for Josephine in her last 7 years of life when she needed assistance.  May God bless you all!
