Dearly beloved brother, brother in law, uncle, cousin and friend, Joseph Viviano passed away after suffering with prostate cancer and kidney failure. He was the second born son to Joseph and Vivian Viviano in San Jose Ca. He attended St. Mary's School, graduated from Gilroy High School and Gavilan College. He always had a good grade point average throughout his schooling. While growing up he was the most loyal and obedient son to our parents. Joseph loved biblical and world history, antiques and was very knowledgeable in these pursuits and hobbies. He was also a handy man and could fix many things.
In his adult life he was a house painter. His greatest love though was his devotion to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that love and devotion was what kept him going to continue his pilgrimage on this earth. After suffering a heart attack at age 42, his days of painting ceilings and high places were over and a renewed interest in collecting and selling antiques began. He witnessed to many people how our life on earth should be and to keep the ten commandments. Having never been married, he maintained a highly moral Christian life. It was this determination through Jesus Christ that carried him through physical deterioration of health. Throughout his adult life, he had the support of our dear mother and sister Elizabeth and his faith in our beliefs to help in all aspects of his life. He was able to travel to the Mayan ruins in Mexico, Hawaii and has traveled extensively in the Northwest and Canada, and Arizona with his mother and sister Elizabeth.
He is predeceased in life by our parents, brother Richard Viviano in 2012, and dear Auntie Josephine. He is survived by brother Anthony (Tony) Viviano of Elk Grove, CA, sister Elizabeth Mata, brother in law Fidel Mata of Gilroy, CA, sister in law Martha Viviano (the late Richard) of FL, nieces Jaci Viviano of Walnut Creek, CA, Sara Badillo of Gilroy, CA, Megan Viviano of FL, nephews Jacob Mata, great nephew Gianni Mata both of Gilroy, CA, niece Serina Mata of Gilroy, CA as well as other great nephews and nieces. Cousins John Paradiso of Gilroy, CA, Paulette Zanotto of San Jose, CA, Tonia Munro of Anderson, CA, Paul Paradiso and Marcella Schafer both of Spokane Washington.
Throughout his life he had dear friends with whom he could share his passions for antiques and the Bible. He spent his last few months in a very nice rest home in Santa Clara and was able to go out Saturdays with his sister and brother in law for hours to San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Sausalito, Half Moon Bay and with his Brother Tony also when visiting, and he received many visits from his dear friend Milfred.
Joseph shared with his sister and brother in law that a childhood and schoolmate acquaintance Dennis Barroza had often come to his little place where he lived in Gilroy and checked on him, getting things for him he needed and Joseph's family wanted to thank him and would like to do so now. Dennis- Thank You and may the Lord Bless You.
Joseph has been reunited with our parents and brother and is enjoying the new life he has with Jesus that the Lord has blessed him with. Until we meet again Joseph, all our love and memories of you will remain in our hearts forever.
Graveside services will be held 12:20 pm Thursday, August 15th at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, Gilroy.
