Joseph Arias, Sr. passed away surrounded by family and friends on Friday, November 11, 2011 due to complications of diabetes. He was born in Gilroy on October 29, 1949 to his parents Barbara and Joseph Arias, who recently passed away a few months ago. He is survived by his wife, Frances, children Joey (Evadina), Leanna and Alicia (Anthony); grandchildren Ariel, Marcus, Theresa, Jakob, Loralynn, Gianni, Amelia and another grandchild due in June 2012; sister Jeanette, and Godmother Dorothy. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Charles and Daniel.


Joseph lived in Gilroy for the majority of his life and worked for over 30 years for local union #3 as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed driving his chevrolet or riding his Harley to go eat at the Longhouse restaurant. You can find him in his favorite domain, the garage, wearing his Ray-Bans, smoking cigars and listening to the blues. He will be missed by many.

There will be a viewing on Saturday, November 19th, 2011 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 4th Street, Gilroy.
