Joseph Gene Mongelluzzo

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, Joseph Gene Mongelluzzo. Father time finally found him. He was 89 years old.

Joe was born in Washington, PA to Carmen Mongelluzzo and Romaine Zullo. At the age of 17, he joined the Air Force, mainly for a roof, clothes and three square meals a day. In the service, he flew as a radio control operator and cryptographer, with special clearance.

After leaving the service, he started a career at Ford Motor Company that would last over 35 years and take him from Ohio to Michigan to California, where he would raise his family. Joe’s love of cars also led to a short stint racing for Ford and continued on throughout Joe’s life. He restored and drove many custom cars that found their way into car shows, parades and magazines.

Joseph Gene was the loving father of Jon (Stephanie), Jodi (Mike), Jacki (Todd), and his beloved son, Joe, who passed in June, 2026. He is also survived by his three grandchildren – James (Julie), Gregory, Kathryn (Tyler) and three great grandchildren (Ellison, Juliette and Luca).

A private inurnment and military service will be held for Joe in September.
