Josefina "Chipis" Valdivia Sanchez was welcomed into Heaven by our Lord, our Father, on 02/21/2022, with her daughters and granddaughters by her side. In the days before her passing, she was surrounded by her family exhibiting the same strength, fervent faith in the Lord, and love and care for her loved ones as ever before. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Maria del Carmen Margarita Valdivia, and youngest brother, Ramon Valdivia Sanchez.

Josefina was born on October 24, 1927 in Madera, California to Felipe Valdivia Diaz and Bernardina Sanchez Ornelas but moved to Jalisco, Mexico with her family at the age of four. The oldest daughter among 8 children, she was very close and protective of her siblings. She returned to California at the age of 36, settling in Gilroy where she worked as a cook for 30 years in Garcia's Restaurant and the Gilroy Senior Center.  She was well known for her delicious "chile verde" among other dishes.

She will be remembered by all those who knew and loved her as a woman of great faith who prayed for everyone in her extended family and friends. She enjoyed cooking for her family, sharing meals and spending time with them. After retirement, she was an avid viewer of "telenovelas" and action/crime films or shows and fan of an occasional trip to a casino.

She will be greatly missed by many family members in California and Mexico, as she was the matriarch of the Valdivia family. Most of all, she will continue to be loved by her daughters (Julieta Alicia Diaz and Maria Eugenia Perez and their spouses), grandchildren (Adriana Ichiuji, Veronica Diaz, Monica Perez, Luis Diaz, Lina Perez, Janet Perez, and their spouses), and 14 great-grandchildren.

Josefina "Chipis" Valdivia Sánchez fue recibida en el cielo por nuestro Señor, nuestro Padre, el 21 de febrero de 2022, acompañada por sus hijas y sus nietas. En los días previos a su fallecimiento, su familia la rodeó; ella mostró la misma fortaleza, fe ferviente en el Señor, y el amor y cuidado por sus seres queridos como siempre. Su hija mayor, Maria del Carmen Margarita Valdivia, y hermano menor, Ramón Valdivia Sánchez, la precedieron en la muerte.

Josefina nació el 24 de octubre de 1927 en Madera, California, hija de Felipe Valdivia Díaz y Bernardina Sánchez Ornelas, pero se mudó a Jalisco, México con su familia a la edad de cuatro años. La mayor hija entre 8 hermanos, era muy cercana a y protectora de sus hermanos y hermanas. Regresó a California a los 36 años, instalándose en Gilroy donde trabajó como cocinera durante 30 años en el Restaurante Garcias y Gilroy Senior Center. Era bien conocida por su delicioso chile verde entre otros platillos.

Ella será recordada por todos aquellos que la conocieron y la amaron como una mujer de gran fe que oraba por todos en su familia y sus amigos. Le gustaba cocinar para su familia, compartir comidas y pasar tiempo con ellos. Después de jubilarse, era una ávida espectadora de telenovelas y películas o programas de acción/crimen y fanática de un viaje ocasional a un casino.

Muchos miembros de su familia en California y en México la van a extrañar mucho, ya que era la matriarca de la familia Valdivia. Sobre todo, seguirá siendo amada por sus hijas (Julieta Alicia Díaz y María Eugenia Pérez y sus cónyuges), nietos (Adriana Ichiuji, Verónica Díaz, Mónica Pérez, Luis Díaz, Lina Pérez y Janet Pérez y sus cónyuges) y 14 bisnietos.
