Obituary

Jose Rodolfo Muñoz, 81, of Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico, peacefully ascended to eternal rest on July 31, 2023, in the embrace of San Jose, CA. A humble and grateful soul, Jose radiated love and devotion to his cherished family. He found solace and joy in the bonds he nurtured with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Guided by a deep faith, he exemplified the principles of humility, respect for all of creation, and gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon him.

Jose's heart overflowed with a passion for justice, and he tirelessly advocated for Los Campesinos Unidos, the United Farmer Workers (UFW), standing in solidarity with the legendary Cesar Chavez himself. Together, they marched in harmony, their voices echoing the profound call for dignity and fairness among the laborers of the fields.

In Jose's extraordinary journey, he left an indelible mark and imprinted memories of love and devotion upon the hearts of all who knew and cherished him. His memory will forever glow like a sacred flame, illuminating the path for generations to come.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by his children: María Esther Muñoz-Ñiquen and her husband José Enrique Ñiquen, José Gerardo Muñoz, Luz Elba Andrade and her husband Manuel Andrade, María Imelda Alcazar and her husband Jose Alcazar, José Rodolfo Muñoz Jr, Jorge Muñoz, Alberto Muñoz and his wife Carissa Muñoz. His spirit will be carried forward by his treasured grandchildren: Jaime Muñoz, Raymond Alcazar, Michael Muñoz, Vanessa Andrade-Dalton, Jorge Muñoz, Luz Elena Ponce, Cynthia Alcazar, Maribel Goulet, Mark Muñoz, Marissa Riggleman, Giovanna Muñoz, Desiree Muñoz, Dolores Andrade, Alexis Muñoz, William Muñoz, Savannah Muñoz, and Alberto Muñoz Jr. Additionally, his great-grandchildren, Oliver Ponce, Sofia Ponce, Beau Sweeney-Muñoz, Adam Riggleman, Francis Dalton, Adeline Dalton, and Lucas Riggleman, will carry his spirit throughout generations to come.

Jose now joins his beloved wife Raquel Muñoz and his daughter Dolores Muñoz in eternal communion. He reunites with his dear parents, Juanita Diaz and José de Jesús Muñoz, who watch over him from realms beyond.

Beyond his cherished relationships, Jose found tranquility and purpose in humble pursuits. He cultivated life through his tender touch in the garden, mending broken mechanical hearts back to life, and through his unwavering dedication to championing the rights of the farm workers he held dear.

With reverence, we invite you to join us to honor Jose's remarkable life and bid him farewell amidst a memorial service on Sunday, August 6th, at 5pm, held at the sacred space of Habings Funeral Home. On Monday, August 7th, at 10am, a solemn funeral service will take place at the hallowed grounds of St. Mary's Parish in Gilroy.

Jose Rodolfo Muñoz's radiant influence, his unwavering commitment to justice and love, will forever be etched upon our souls. Let us lift our prayers, embracing the humble qualities he lived by, grateful for the legacy he leaves behind. May his spirit find eternal peace, cradled in the arms of divine grace.
