Jose Gabriel De La Torre was born in San Juan De Los Lagos, Jalisco Mexico on December 20th 1940. He came to San Jose in 1976 and opened the first Super Taqueria, with his brother and cousin. That has now grown into 11 restaurants.

In July 2013, Gabriel was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer which he battled for over 2 long years. Embraced in the hands of the Lord, Gabriel passed away on December 31st, 2015 in his home in San Martin CA. His final days were spent surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his wife Maria, children Luis, Blanca, Oscar, Sandra, Evelyn, Gabriela, Yessenia and 9 Grandchildren.

Visitation from 1 - 5pm, Friday, January 8, 2016 at Habing Family Funeral Home, followed by a 6:30pm Rosary at St. Mary Catholic Church, Gilroy. Funeral Mass 12 noon, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Gilroy.
