On Saturday, September 26th, 2020, Jose "Joe" Baltazar passed away at the age of 80. Joe was born on November 12th, 1939 in Crystal City, Texas to Leopoldo and Consuelo Baltazar. Joe retired from the Gilroy Cannery after 30+ years. When Joe was not working he enjoyed singing and listening to Mexican music, drinking, gambling, and watching sports. Joe enjoyed watching his favorite team the Raiders on Sundays with a bowl of homemade menudo and tortillas. But of all things, the thing that was the most dearest to him was his family. He loved and adored them with all his heart.

Joe has been preceded in death by his father Leopoldo Baltazar, mother Consuelo Baltazar, son David Lira, brothers and sister Peter, Manuel, Paul, Roy, and Donna Baltazar.

He is survived by his wife Jennie Baltazar of 52 years. His son, Peter Lira, daughters Brenda (Ismael) Beltran, Gina Baltazar, Lisa (Felix) Pasillas, Monica Baltazar, and his grandson he raised Vince Nino, 27 grandchildren, and 46 great grandchildren. His siblings; Polly (Sal) Mercado, Yolanda De La Cruz, Esther Rivera and Rosa Baltazar. Also, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. All his days were spent surrounded by his loving family.

A graveside service will be held at St. Mary Cemetery.
