Jorge Monroy, graciously known as "Don Jorgito", and lovingly known as "Grandpa" ascended into heaven  on August 9, 2024 with his daughter Norma by his side.

Jorge was preceded in death by his mother Juanita DelaTorre, father Vicente Monroy, and loving wife of over 50 years, Maria Aurora Monroy.

Jorge was a welder by trade, but a salesman by heart. You could find him every weekend at the Capitol flea market selling soccer items.

Jorge was a true and loyal fan to Las Aguilas del America. "Americanista de corazón."

Born in Mexico City, Jorge worked hard most of his life. Soon after he married Maria they immigrated to the United States in search of a better life. Eventually establishing and raising his family in Gilroy.

Jorge was blessed with an amazing singing voice. He loved family gathering  and took joy in seeing everyone united and happy.

He is survived by his children Laura Chavarria (Alfredo), Norma Galván (Rubén), Aurora Groden, and Jorge Monroy. Bonus daughter Gaby Mercado.

He's also survived by his grandchildren Jacqueline, Anthony, Alexis, Timothy, Emma, Andrew, Noah, Ayden, Elijah, Aurora. Siblings Hector , Marcela , Martha , Rodolfo, Leticia Monroy, Graciela, Ana, Jose Luis, Ignacio, and Leticia Ramirez.

Nothing will ever fill the hole left in our hearts, but we rejoice in the Lord knowing Dad and Mom are together again.  We are grateful for always teaching us to love your family, to enjoy the moments together, and work hard.

We would like to take this time to thank from the bottom of our hearts, Tina Aguilar, for the amazing care she gave dad this last year.  Also to the amazing nurses, CNAs and doctors at Gilroy Health and Rehab that provide excellent care these past months.

A celebration of life will be held at:

Veterans of Foreign Wars, 649 San Benito St., Hollister, CA 95023. August 17th, 2024 at 3pm.
