John "Jack"
Wallace Jeske
April 22, 1933 – August 30, 2022
John "Jack" Wallace Jeske was born April 22, 1933 in Port Huron, Michigan and peacefully passed away at the age of 89 on August 30, 2022at his home in Merced, CA surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born to Ernest and Mereda Jeske and was the seventh out of thirteen siblings.
Jack joined the service after high school. While home on leave he met the love of his life, Evie. Theirs was a whirlwind romance, where they met on a Tuesday at the local roller rink and were married that Thursday! The next day Jack left for Long Beach where he was stationed in the United States Navy. Their first married years were spent in Long Beach while Jack finished his time in the Navy. While in the Navy Jack serve on a ship during the Korean War. They returned to Port Huron, Michigan, then eventually moved to Gilroy, CA to be closer to family. They spent many years in Gilroy before moving to Merced.
He retired from FMC after 35 years where he made and tested Bradley Tanks. He enjoyed spending time bowling, CB Club, Catering (as he loved to cook), loved a good nap and traveling with family and friends.
Jack was married to his bride Evie for 67 years, who passed away April 4, 2022, just four months before him.
He is survived by his children Dale (Ruby) of Texas, Terry (Marlene) of Merced, Vickie (Stan) of Oregon and Jill (Kevin) of Merced. He was the proud grandfather of Nathan, Brian, Stephanie, Steven, Brittany, Jeremy, Josh, Jordan, Curtis, Kenny and Kyle. Great grandfather of ten and great great grandfather of one. His sister's Rosie Leavitt of South Carolina and Pat Caspary of California.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Mereda Jeske, Brothers Cliff, Bill, Dick, Jim and Ronnie Jeske and Sisters, Edith Bartlett, Avonne Zander, Betty LaFountain, Joyce Tait and Donna Mulch.
Shortly after he retired, they moved to Merced to help with their grandchildren, where Jack and Evie were actively involved with their grandchildren activities. He became Grandpa to many people. In addition to his family, he loved his bonus family who referred to him as grandpa.
His family would like to say a special thank you to his caregiver, Abigail AKA Blondie!
A celebration of life is planned for April on Jacks 90 th Birthday.
Both Jack and Evie will be laid to rest together in April at San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella.
Jack was the best husband, dad, grandpa, and friend to all!
