John M. Martensen, of Gilroy, California, lost his battle with Alzheimer's and passed away on October 23, 2023.

John, fondly known as Marty, was born to Joseph and Josephine Martensen on July 11, 1945, in Dallas, Texas. He enjoyed spending his free time with family and friends. Everyone who knew Marty knew he also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, dirt bikes, bowling, and painting with his wife, Shelby.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joe, and his son, Michael. He is survived by his wife, Shelby, and six children, Jerry Whitmer (Lori), Char Marrazzo (Rick), Vince Whitmer (Denette), Cyndee Torres, Jim Martensen (Katie), and Bob Martensen (Darlene). He is also survived by nineteen Grandchildren and eleven Great-Grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.

Marty served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he worked for PG&E as a Gas Crew Foreman for 30 years. Regardless of his title, he loved nothing more than being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was the best role model.

Marty's family will host a celebration of life on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.  Celebration of Life immediately following at the Marrazzo's residence.
