John was born on February 9th, 1933 in Mountain View, California. After working for his father's trucking company in Reno, Nevada, he and his brother Robert headed west and moved to California, eventually settling in Morgan Hill where they started their own business; Grifall Trucking. It was here, as the brothers worked side by side, that they grew the business from a one truck company into a very prominent and successful fleet which is still running trucks today. A self-taught, savvy business man, John was very successful in whichever business venture he set his mind to. Grifall Trucking had a major hand in creating the Silicon Valley of today, which is something that he took great pride in.
Above all, John was extremely devoted and loyal to his family. It was for them that he worked so hard. Reminiscing about old times was a true enjoyment to him especially while getting a crayon manicure from his grandchildren. His passion for the shop and his trucks was unwavering, even until his last day. John was a man of strong faith and believed in the peace and beauty that he was headed to. He was a loving man to so many and will be greatly missed.
