Joaquin Puente

Joaquin Puente of Gilroy, California peacefully went home to the Lord on February 7, 2026. He was 76 years old.

Joaquin was born in San Jose, California and lived all his life in Gilroy. He worked at Gilroy Foods for 30 years and went on to spend his retirement surrounded by the people he loved.

He was a fun-loving, adventurous soul who enjoyed football, the beach and spending time with his children and grandchildren. His jokes and laughter could brighten any room. His special talent was to strike up a conversation with anyone, and he was able to make an impact with just his words alone.

Joaquin is remembered for his fierce love for his family, his tremendous strength, and the precious memories he created with those closest to him. His presence and legacy will live on through all the lives he touched.

Joaquin is survived by his beloved wife, Lupe; his children, Carla, Vanessa, and Joaquin; his grandchildren, Salvador, Dane, Jacob, Julian and Maliya; and his great-granddaughter Kehlani; siblings, Ermelindo Puente, Raul Puente, Genaro Puente and Hope Pasqual; and many extended family members including son-in-law Sal, his cousins, nieces and nephews, God children and friends who will miss him dearly. 

Joaquin is preceded in death by his parents, Ermelindo and Esperanza Puente, sisters Estella Cantu and Gloria Sumisaki and brother Robert Puente.
