Joaquin "Francisco" Barrios, 73 years old, of Morgan Hill, CA, departed to be with our Lord on March 21st 2015 in San Jose California after a long term illness.
Francisco was born Aug 18th 1941 in EI Salvador, Central America, to Jose Antonio Barrios & Maria Magdalena Paredes, the 4th of 5 children (Carmen, Antonio, Manuel, Francisco, and Rosie) He met his beloved wife Martha Echegoyen in the summer of 1966, and they married on the 28th of November 1968.
They came to the United States in 1976, where Francisco and Martha worked to establish a new home and life for their growing family. Francisco founded Barrios Upholstery in 1978, which thrives to this day. Francisco lived much of his life in Morgan Hill, CA, where he enjoyed taking his family fishing and camping throughout the Central Valley; in particular, the Barrios family holds many fond memories of the times they spent together at San Luis Reservoir. Francisco is remembered for his generosity. From assisting struggling immigrants, to caring for the homeless, he never hesitated to help others in need.
One of his greatest achievements was establishing a safe, new home in the United States, where his offspring have all benefited from this land of opportunity which he loved so dearly. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Martha, their 6 children and their spouses (Jaime & Anselma, Daisy & Glenn, Martha & Orlando, Marvin & Roxana, Marisela & John, and Jeannette & Joel), 18 grandchildren, and his overprotective dog, Thumbelina.
Francisco will be honored on Friday, the 27th of March, 11:30 am, at Gilroy Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1575 Mantelli Dr., Gilroy CA, followed by his burial on Saturday, the 28th of March, 2:00 pm, at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, 1000 1st St., Gilroy CA.
