Joan Blessing Kern peacefully passed away in the company of her family at 11:20 am on Saturday, February 24, 2018 in Gilroy, CA, at the age of 94.  Mrs. Kern was preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank of 62 years, son Frank Jr. (70) and son Steven (2 hours).  Surviving her are sons Kenneth (Ken), Christopher (Chris) and James (Jim).

Joan was one of the first women to work at the New York Stock Exchange.  After the bombing at Pearl Harbor, she was recruited to fill one of the positions vacated by the men enlisting into service.  After raising a family Joan embarked on a successful real estate career in Southern California.  In retirement, she took line dancing and enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services for Joan and Frank will be held at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Glen Allen Virginia in September 2018.  Their ashes will be entombed in a columbarium niche at the Church.
