Jimmie F Vaden of Morgan Hill passed away on September 21, 2017. Jimmie was born in Deming, New Mexico on July 7, 1927. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Clara Vaden, Sister Elizabeth Bestrop, Brother Ray Vaden and infant son Daniel.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 69 years Shirley, son Tommie Vaden (Sherrie), daughter Janis Filice (Greg), sons Jeff Vaden and Jon Vaden. Grandfather to Sarah Field (Glenn), Jessica Autrand (Alan), Melynda Moran (Ryan), Caitlyn Vaden, Bryan Filice (Annie), Carissa Carsey (Caleb), Aaron Vaden (Janell), Adam and Analise Vaden, Jennifer Waugh (John) and 9 great grandchildren. Also, survived by his beloved companion "Rex".
Before graduating from High School, he joined the Army Air Corp and served until 1947 and returned to Atascadero High School to graduate in 1948. He met his wife Shirley at local dances at the Atascadero Lake Pavilion and married in 1948, where they lived until moving to Gilroy in 1959. They moved to Morgan Hill in 2003.
He enjoyed many family camping trips to Fish Camp and Grey's Mountain over the years.
Jimmie was a Signal Maintainer for 20 years for Southern Pacific Railroad, from there he worked as a Lineman for Continental Telephone for 20 years. He was also a Reserve Police Officer for the City of Gilroy for 15 Years, which he enjoyed. He worked on the weekends and evenings at many jobs, including laying Railroad Track at Roaring Camp in Felton and even was able to be Engineer for a Day and drive the train.
After retiring he drove the train at Bonfante Gardens for a few years and Useugi Farms as well. His hobby was trains and he and Shirley traveled throughout the United States and rode many Steam Trains on their many RV trips. They were members of the Elks Garlic Roamers RV group and spent weekends with the group traveling.
He was a member of the Gilroy Elks Lodge, and enjoyed helping with Fundraiser breakfasts as well as Rib nights.

Services will be held at Habing Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private at San Joaquin National Cemetery.
