IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jesus Salvador
Velasco
February 7, 1949 – March 29, 2025
Jesus Salvador Velasco was born in Mezquitic, Jalisco to Maria De La Luz Velasco (née Arroyo) and Victorio Velasco. He was the fourth of six surviving children, his immediate older brother Victor having died from a white scorpion bite shortly after his birth. He enjoyed an idyllic childhood until the passing of his mother due to tuberculosis when he was eight years old. Her loss was so devastating to his father, that their family lost its financial stability. By the age of nineteen, Salvador immigrated to Los Angeles in hopes of saving his father from financial ruin. He succeeded in this and ten years later returned to Mexico to look for a wife. Shortly after arriving, he began courting Paula Gaeta, daughter of Juana (née De La Torre) and Adolfo Gaeta. In 1996, Salvador built a small restaurant with his wife in Gilroy, California and called it "Puerto Neuvo." This business would ultimately thrive and would lead him to be a well-known member of his community. In 2012, great tragedy would revisit Salvador again. After battling breast cancer for three difficult years, his beloved daughter would ultimately succumb to the disease at only twenty eight years old. Salvador was completely devastated by her death and his heart never fully recovered.

He strongly believed in justice for all people, kindness to animals and the protection of nature. Although he lived most of his life in California, he loved Mexico and avidly followed its politics. He always enjoyed fine dining, traveling throughout California and Mexico and working on his beautiful home.
In 2024, he was diagnosed with a rare tumor. He fought this disease valiantly and filled his every day with as much joy as possible. His body ultimately succumb and he enjoyed a beautiful passing in his home with his wife and son sitting at his side. Jesús Salvador Velasco nació en Mezquitic, Jalisco, hijo de María De La Luz Velasco (de soltera Arroyo) y Victorio Velasco.
