Obituary

Jesus Nino passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, August 29, at the age of 90. Jesus was born in Crystal City, Texas to Jose and Leonor Nino on March 20, 1932. Jesus later relocated to Gilroy, California where he met his wife, Ramona.

Jesus is survived by his beautiful wife of 68 years, Ramona. They were blessed with 8 children, all of whom survive him – Euvaldo, Gabriel (Lisa), Leonor, Anna, Eduardo, Alma, Lorenzo (Sara) and Tomas, and cousin Jorge (Michelle) whom Jesus and Ramona helped raise. Jesus' grandchildren lit up his life on a daily basis– Haleigh, Kami (Dylan), Dominic, Matthew, Virginia (Carlos), Victor and Sofia. His great grandchildren brought him a great amount of joy, especially in his last few days – Aiden, Eli, Stetson and Kolter. Jesus is also survived by many Godchildren, his brother, Reynaldo Nino and other siblings, Barbara, Juan, Bert, Lupe, Theodora and Stella, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Jesus is preceded in death by his siblings Juanita, Leopoldo, Carlos, Andres and Roque and his parents, Jose and Leonor Nino, and stepmother Paula Nino.

Jesus worked at the Gilroy Cannery for 42 years and raised his children with a solid foundation of faith, sending them all to St. Mary School. While his children were in school, Jesus enjoyed being involved in the St. Mary School Mens Club. Jesus was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he served in many capacities, including Usher and past member of the Guadalupana and Parish Council.  He was a true family man and loved spending time with family and friends, enjoying a good barbeque, sipping on tequila and listening to Spanish music.  Jesus also enjoyed watching the classic cowboy western movies and Spanish telenovelas with the love of his life, Ramona.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, September 6 from 8:30 am until 9:30 am followed by a mass and funeral service at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 11 First Street, Gilroy.  Family would like to invite all friends and family to a luncheon to be held at the Gilroy Vets Hall, 74 West 6 th Street, Gilroy.  For additional information contact Habing Family Funeral Home.
