Obituary

On May 5, 2023, Jesus Marquez left this earthly existence to be with the Lord and his loved ones who waited to greet him at the gates of heaven, with open arms. Jesse's last days were not as hard as the days in his life had already been.
He was born on Nov3, 1940 in
Chihuahua, Mexico.  Jesse did not have the opportunities that many children enjoy. He left his homeland as a young boy, after having only achieved a 4th grade education. While the rest of the family remained in Mexico, Jesse worked hard with his father Ramon and his brothers, who came with him to make a better life for the rest of the family, and to bring them north to California.

Once that happened, Jesse grew up and continued his life in Gilroy. He learned to read English by reading the Sunday news paper, and he enjoyed the funnies and word jumbles especially. He became a master welder and he worked at Chappel Steel for many years. He also worked at Poley's and with Steve Welch. He also completed many complex welding projects throughout Gilroy and the surrounding areas. He went on to have his children and later he moved to Las Vegas. He loved the life there, and he enjoyed his last years there. Recently, he had been hospitalized and was diagnosed with advanced dementia. He was placed into a hospice care home where he passed peacefully after a very short time. His life was full of many obstacles, but he finally achieved the one joy we all hope to find.

Jesse is survived by a large family. He was the eldest of 13 children, 2 of whom did not survive past childhood. Jesse's siblings have many stories of his sacrifices. The siblings and spouses are as follows, with their children:
Raymond (Teresa)  Brian, Kevin, and Celine,
The children of Henry "Enrique" (Veronica) Chenziro and Tortolino,
Maria Garcia (Sefarino) Eddy and Michael,
Raquel (Marquez) Lisa and Fred,
Raul (Susan) Eric, Jessica, and Jackie,
Jose (March) Roman and Jordi,
The children of Molly Kalff (Paul) Molly Marie, Ross, and Marcie,
Yolanda Clark (Phil) Melissa, George, Kim and Katie,
James (Theresa) Tiana and Jamie
Chris Denice (Kenny) Michelle and Ryan.

Jesse was predeceased by his parents  Ramon y Maria Marquez, his siblings Henry Marquez and Molly Kalff, his nephew Michael Garcia, and his grandson Doug Williams. He also has the following surviving children: Jesse, Frank, Mark, Cindy,  Lorraine, and his stepson whom he raised, Dimitrious Diaz. There are many beautiful grandchildren who never had the chance to meet Jesse. There are many nieces and nephews who did. He had many friends, and maybe a few enemies. He saw a lot in his hard 82 years, and he had a strategic mind which helped and maybe hindered him during times throughout his life. He did not have an extensive education,  but he was extremely smart, and savvy to the world's ways. He loved to fish, and everyone has stories of when he would take us out to Moss Landing jetty.

As we all have our time to depart, Jesse's time came on Cinco de Mayo.

Descanse en Paz, Jesus Marquez.
