Janet, 80, formerly of Gilroy, passed away on April 2, 2019 in Hollister.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Darla J. Mingus Garcia and her husband, Ronald C. Mingus.  She is survived by her sons, David and James Mingus, son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Michelle Garcia, her grandchildren, Brandon (Genea)  Mingus, Deanna (David) Arias, Brandy (David) Arroyo, great grandchildren, Jaden, Kylen, Shaylen and Brooklyn Mingus, Daniella, Davina and Darla Jae Arias, Sean Jones and Lily Arroyo. Also, her sisters Sarah Brown and Sandra McGhee.

Janet and her husband Ron moved their growing family to Gilroy in 1962 from Illinois. After a few years in Gilroy, Ron opened his own insurance company with the help of Janet and their daughter, Darla. They owned and operated Mingus Insurance for many, many years.  Later in life, after retirement she pursued her passion of antiquing. She started a small shop in Moss Landing and later moved her business to San Juan Bautista, in the historical bluebird building.

She was a loving and involved mother to her three children. She enjoyed being a den mother for cub scouts and also participated in many other aspects of her children's lives.  The family enjoyed their vacations together.  They spent many good times boating and staying in their cabin on Coyote Lake. Her favorite past time was playing cards and Bunko with her dear friends, when she wasn't at the Casino.

She will be dearly missed.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 11:00 am at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.
