James Jaime Paderna passed peacefully in his sleep, on September 15, 2019, released from of difficult health afflictions. He is greatly missed by all that knew his kindness and generosity.
One of six children, James was born in Naha, Okinawa, Japan. The family moved to San Francisco, California where he attended Abraham Lincoln High School. There, he earned a full scholarship to UC Berkeley, as a Computer Science major, and debt-free. He developed his career in Silicon Valley at notable startups and corporations, including NASA, where worked on Space Shuttle projects. He loved electronics and built his own computers and set up audio systems. He often shared his expertise and his time generously with friends and family. He retired early and enjoyed his time deep-sea fishing and creating electric bicycles. Despite health setbacks, he loved cruising the South Bay on his power-assisted bike.
Survivors include his wife, Meelan Leong; siblings Ben, Sid, Tom, and Anna; and numerous family members, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Mitsue and Isidro Paderna, and a brother, Robert.
Services will be held in the chapel at Olivet Memorial Park, Colma, CA, 10:30 am, Friday, September 27, 2019.
