Obituary

James Law passed away peacefully on November 18, after a short illness, at the age of
89. He was born in Yonkers, New York, on November 10, 1933. He graduated from
Gorton High in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He lived in
Yonkers until 1965. Jim was happily married to his wife Dotty for 63 years before she
passed away in 2020. He had resided in Gilroy since 1976.

Jim is survived by his son James H. Law of Santa Cruz, CA, daughter Cindy Alves
(husband Frank) of Gilroy, CA, son Bruce Law of Gilroy, CA, son Gregg Law (wife
Jennifer) of Lincoln, CA, granddaughter Erica Manning-Law, grandson Michael Law,
granddaughter Marie Law, granddaughter Kaitlin Law, granddaughter Hayley Law and
great granddaughter Violet Gray. He was preceded in death by his parents and
siblings. Jim will be deeply missed by his extended family and numerous friends.

Jim worked in traffic and distribution business during his career. He began at Otis
Elevator in New York. Later, he worked at Morton Frozen Foods on the east coast
before being transferred to California. After Morton, he worked at Hunt Wesson Frozen
Foods, Dalgety Foods, and Apple City Trucking. After many years, he retired from Mike
Conrotto Trucking in Gilroy, CA.

After retirement, he became involved as a docent with Bonfante (Gilroy) Gardens and
leading tours of the Pumpkin Patch in San Martin. He spent many happy days playing
Santa Claus, leading school tours and speaking with visitors to the park and pumpkin
patch.

He very much enjoyed reading, spending time with family and friends and was always
ready to volunteer to help others. He and Dotty enjoyed attending many Scottish
games, and traveling across the United States and the United Kingdom. Jim was
known as a fair, kind-hearted, welcoming person. He was also a straight shooter who
would help others in need, but also help them stand on their own two feet.

There will be a private celebration of Jim's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, his
family would appreciate any donations be made to the American Heart Association.
