June 7, 1923 – June 3, 2022
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of James Douglas Frame, age 98 (4 days shy of 99). He passed peacefully in his home in Gilroy with his niece Barbara Erickson by his side on June 3, 2022.
Doug was survived by his sister, Elinor Stott and her children Susan, Nancy, Robert, Rebecca and Barbara and their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was widowed and has many of his wife Fran's, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren that survived him as well.
He proudly served in WWII and was part of the second wave of the Normandy Beach landing. He helped in the release of POWs and served as a medic and hospital fleet mechanic during his service. After the war, he and his folks purchased property in Woodside on Skyline and his father and he built their home. Both his mother and father lived in the home they built until their deaths. While building their home he also worked and went to school to become an engineer. Once he graduated, he went to work for Ampex in Redwood City and met Frances the woman who would become his future wife. Doug worked for Ampex as a managing mechanical engineer until retiring at the age of 65.
His passions were his wife Frances, his family, flying, driving, dancing, hiking and sports. Doug will be dearly missed and, in our hearts forever.
The funeral will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 18 th at Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy. Immediately following a small gathering will be held to celebrate Doug's life at his niece Susan's home in Gilroy.
