Obituary

Jacquelynn Mason

January 11, 1944 – May 20, 2021

Following a long and difficult illness, Jackie passed away peacefully at home, Thursday May 20 th .  She was loved, admired and respected by friends and family for the kind person she was and the example she set.  Jackie was always looking for opportunities to help people and animals in need.  Her participation in 4-H, Future Farmers, Hope Rehabilitation, and St. Mary's Catechism were a few examples of her need to help others.  For more than fifty years she was an avid equestrian who loved backcountry trail riding.  As a member of San Martin Horseman's Association, she enjoyed buying young, inexperienced horses and training them for mountain trails and quadrille.  She adopted or placed many stray animals.

In 1961 Jackie married Jerry Mason while he was serving in the U.S. Navy.  They lived in Long Beach, California until his discharge and then returned home to San Jose.  Their daughter Laura was born in 1963, and their son Mark in 1964.  They moved to Gilroy in 1971 and San Martin in 1986.  Jackie never stopped being an amazing homemaker as once her children were raised Jackie's mom began depending more and more on Jackie's care.  Jackie's mom soon moved onto their property and Jackie continued to be her care provider for fourteen years.  Sixty years of marriage taught Jerry and Jackie how to love and care for one another.

Family and friends were her priority, she left behind a long list of family and friends who will miss her deeply.  She is survived by her husband Jerry Mason, her daughter Laura Renz, (George) and her son Mark Mason, (Heather).  Jackie also leaves behind 8 grandchildren;  Jessica McFarren, (Ian), Micara Renz Keir, (Ken), Matthew Mason, (Amanda), Christian Renz, (Joanna), Justin Mason, (Morgan), Dominic Renz, (Tailor), Thomas Renz and Julian Renz.  She had 4 great grandchildren;  Colton Mason, Peyton Mason, Grace Renz and John Dean McFarren.

Services for Jackie will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gilroy.  A Rosary at 7 pm, Friday May 28th and Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon on Saturday May 29th, 2021.  In lieu of flowers Jackie requested donations be sent to St. Joseph's Family Center in Gilroy, CA.
