Humberto "Bert" Hernandez, 60, of Gilroy, passed away peacefully December 1, 2021, surrounded by
family.
Bert was an avid bicyclist and found peace riding his bike out in the country roads enjoying nature's
beauty. He loved singing along to his favorite music and watching old sitcom shows, which he often
quoted and used to give nicknames to his loved ones. He was a humorous storyteller and loved making
others laugh. He adored spending time with his nieces and nephews which brought him joy in his life.
The unconditional love he received, he cherished. Bert was a dedicated fitness guru and for years,
worked as a personal trainer at the YMCA where he met and made lifelong friends.
He is survived by his brothers; Jose Hernandez (Stella), Lupe Hernandez, and Frank Montalvo. His
sisters; Maria Hernandez, Margaret Hernandez, Susie Salas (Carlos), Esther Castaneda (Frank), Peggy
Sanchez (Jesse), Terry Heredia (Robert), and sister-in-law Ordy Hernandez. He had 3 generations of
many nieces and nephews (all of whom he adored and loved spending time with).
Humberto was preceded in death by his parents, Teodoro and Angelina Hernandez, brothers John
Hernandez, Theodore "Ted" Hernandez, Jose "Lalo" Hernandez, and nephew Carlos Vaca.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's church on Friday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m. followed by
the burial ceremony at St. Mary's cemetery.
