Hello Family and Friends,

On November 17 ^th , 2021, Hortencia Chaigres has moved on to the next phase of her journey. She was born in Cucamonga, CA on August 3 ^rd , 1927, and has lived on Canada Rd. in Gilroy for over 68 years. She and her husband Robert Chaigres have spent their most recent time in Morgan Hill CA in their new home, down the street from both of their daughters. Hortencia stood spunky, blunt and hilarious until her last days here. She spent her last moments with many phone calls and visitors on facetime and in person. Any messages received from social media were also relayed to her in person. Her children, siblings, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends all reached out to show their love and care for Hortencia, she was happy to hear from everyone. She has always been such a social person. There was a lot of laughter and great moments that filled her recent time, she was still telling stories and jokes and she spent her last night singing away. She said her good-byes, completed her life gracefully and moved on peacefully.

Hortencia has lived a beautiful full life alongside her loving husband Robert Chaigres. They spent 69 years of marriage side by side building a good life. They have five children together Gloria (Louie), Robert, the late David (Georgette), the late Arthur and Leticia. Hortencia is daughter to Juan Sotelo and Gavina Sotelo. She was the oldest of thirteen siblings, Eleanor, Herman, John, Margaret, Ruben, Joseph, Sal, Elisa, Irene, Alma, Mario, and Jesse. She was a fun and loving grandmother to Adrienne (Daniel), Melinda, April, Dani (Anthony), Cesily, and Jessica. She is a great grandmother to Daniel, Cal, Pippa, Uriah, Liliana and Eliana. They were pet parents to Solo, Maddie, and Solie. She has a big family filled with many uncles, Aunt and cousins whom she loves very much.

Although Hortencia will be missed dearly, it is comforting to know joins many family members and friends in the afterlife including both of her parents Juan & Gavina Sotelo and her two son's Arthur and David. Prior to her passing she spoke of seeing David a lot as well as other family members.

In her latest years she loved to go to bingo in Gilroy, Morgan hill and San Martin alongside her sisters, family and friends. She was VIP and she knew everyone, and always had a saved seat. One of Hortencia and Robert's favorite pass time was selling at the flea markets and socializing with their friends and everyone shopping. They also loved fishing, and anything activity where they spent time with family and friends. They stood very active always driving to town, stopping in to visit and have coffee and pandulce with family and friends.

She lived 94 wonderful years. There are so many stories to tell. You will hear many more great memories, and enjoy many more laughs, as we celebrate the life of a beautiful person Hortencia Chaigres.

On behalf of all the family we would like to thank all of you for your love and support for Hortencia. She knew how important she was to everyone and appreciated all of the effort. She is no longer physically here but she lives on in all of us and watches over us now. She is already missed so much; she will be in our hearts and minds forever.
