Henrique Garcia Rosa, known to his loved ones as "Henry," passed away on October 9, 2023, in San Francisco, California, at the age of 73. He was born on February 25, 1950, in Cedros, Faial, Azores, Portugal. Henry was a devoted husband, father, avo, and brother.
Henry is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Rosa, his son Brian, his daughter-in-law Sara, his daughter Kristen, and his son-in-law Christopher Henderson. His grandchildren Krista, Adlin, Liliana, Mariella, Laurel, Gavin, Gabriel, and Owen. He was a dedicated Avo who brought joy and love to his grandchildren's lives with his playfulness, Portuguese singing, and an endless supply of chocolate. He will be deeply missed by his surviving siblings: Manuel (Lucia) Rosa, Beatriz (Jose) Machado, and Lina (Manuel) Furtado. His siblings that preceded him in death: Fatima Correia, Liduina Laranjo & Emilia Furtado, now welcome him to Heaven.
Henry was a skilled foreman for Culberson Drywall for over 20 years. He was known in his industry as an artist of great competence. Adding just the right amount of sand to get the best texture for drywall finishing. He took pride in his work and had a work ethic that was instilled into his descendants.
Henry enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, long walks, Friday night family dinners, Saturday morning breakfast and playing at the park with his grandchildren, watching and talking about his favorite sports, and family photos, cards, and mementos. Henry was a role model for love, kindness, patience, gentleness, and selflessness.
Henry worshiped at Five Wounds Portuguese National Parish, where he found solace and strength in his faith. His commitment to his religious community was unwavering.
A rosary and funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, starting at 11:30AM at Five Wounds Portuguese National Parish located at 1375 East Santa Clara Street, San Jose, California, 95116. Following the services, Henry will be laid to rest at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, located at 1000 1st St, Gilroy, CA 95020.
Contributions can be made to Donate Life America or the UCSF Pulmonary Division and Lung Transplant. Both were responsible for Henry's extra decade of life. The transplant gave him new life and he loved every moment. No words can describe the appreciation Henry and his family had for the gift of life that his lung donor provided him for over 10 years.
The Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy, CA, is assisting the family during this difficult time.
Henry Rosa will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
