Ginger Patterson Somera, 48 years old passed beautifully onto the Lord midafternoon August 28, 2019.

Born in Solvang, CA, the family moved to the San Jose area in 1973 and then to Gilroy in 1979 where she graduated from Gilroy High School.  She married Mark Somera and they settled in Salinas after living in Germany during Mark's Air Force duty.  Ginger and the children returned to Gilroy only several days before being diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer.  Treatments were unsuccessful and in a short fifteen months she passed to eternal life.  It was during those fifteen months that she rediscovered her Catholic faith.  Many were in awe of her spiritual transformation.

A devoted mother, she will be deeply missed by her two children, Jessica and Darren Somera.  Her mother Janet Blum, stepfather Dan Blum, four sisters- Jennifer, Christi, Colleen and Janeen, two brothers Eric and Matthew, Godfather Uncle Dee, and many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, friends, co-workers and so many others will feel the void of her gentle presence.
