Gilroy

Geraldine Meacham, lovingly known to some as Gerry or Jay, passed away peacefully on July 18th, 2026 at her residence at Merrill Gardens where she had resided for over five years. She was born on November 18, 1931 at the old Wheeler Hospital in Gilroy to Louis and Inez Angelino. Geraldine grew up in Gilroy and graduated from Gilroy High in 1949.

She was the mother of David Meacham, grandmother of Jenna and Bradley Meacham, sister of Frank (Betty) Angelino, step-sister of Deb Togliatti and aunt to Deanna (Jonathan) Small and Gina (John) Anderson. She was also the great aunt to William and Matthew Anderson and Dominic Small.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Inez Angelino, her husband Chuck Meacham and her sister Laura Angelino and numerous aunts and uncles.

Jay was employed by Pac Bell and AT&T and worked there for over 35 years until her retirement in 1993. Jay loved to sing and was a longtime member of the side-by-siders singing group. She was also a member of St. Mary Parish, the Italian Catholic Federation and Wit II. Jay loved to go to Lake Tahoe and Reno and play the slot machines and she and her sister Laura loved to go on cruises whenever possible. The pictures of her many trips fill several photo albums!!!

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 3rd at Habing Family Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ICF Branch 28 scholarship fund or Bonita Springs Hospice in Gilroy. Special thanks to Karla and her staff from hospice who went above and beyond in their care for Jay and making her last days as peaceful as possible.
