IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George Raymond
Salgado
October 29, 1952 – August 6, 2024
George Raymond Salgado Sr (Groovy), 71, of Gilroy, CA, passed away on August 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. George was born on October 29, 1952, to Raymundo and Jennie Salgado in Gilroy, California. He is survived by his children: Kristal (Jesse), George Jr. (GG)(Angela), Janay (Randy), Makayla (Philip), Joshua (Luiza), and Marcus. He also leaves behind his siblings: Eddie, Ronnie, Donnie, Andy, Kathy, Alex, and Johnny. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Aneasa, Jacob, Shawn Jr., Anthony Jr., Jalen, Jocelyn, Eric, PJ, Sadie, Faith, Jaeda, Stevie Rae, Legend, and Issac, as well as his great-grandchildren: Kehlani Rae and Jacob II. George retired from Gilroy Foods after 30 years of dedicated service. He was an avid softball player and participated in numerous tournaments, both locally and while traveling with the Crackerjacks, Bledso Concrete, Arata Trucking, and Jus Groove Softball teams, where he hit balls that are still going. George loved fishing and spent many Sundays at the San Jose Flea Market, listening to the Mariachis with friends, family, or anyone who wanted to join him. His passion for sports extended to his family, as he cherished watching his sons and grandsons play baseball and football, and he was always his granddaughters' biggest fan as they cheered. George enjoyed going to Candlestick Park to watch the Giants play. He also loved to cook, had an infectious smile, and was the life of every family gathering and party with his stories. He was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants, always cheering for his favorite teams. The Gilroy Museum has articles about our dad and his years playing softball—he was our Superstar. George is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Raymundo and Jennie Salgado, and his brother, Arthur Salgado.
