George Thomas Hughes, 75, of Gilroy, California, beloved husband and best friend of Anita Hughes for 45 years, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on June 29, 2016. He is now at rest with his parents, Jim and Margaret Hughes. He is remembered with love by his devoted wife, Anita, his daughter, Annette (Randy), son, Joel (Regina), grandchildren, Anthony, Jacob and Emma. Along with his brothers and sisters Jim, Mike, Mae, Pat and Fran, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

George will always be remembered for his ability to make everyone laugh with his great stories. George served 20 years in the United States Navy and was a proud Veteran; you never caught him without his Veteran ball cap. He loved hunting, golfing, playing a good game of poker in Reno, and especially spending time with his wife and family. He knew how to make the best out of any situation; he had a calm gentle presence. He will truly be missed but not forgotten.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 10:00 am at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
