Gary Batchelder

Gary Batchelder, of Gilroy, CA., passed away peacefully in his home on March 17, 2026. He was 86 years old.

He was best known for his fierce love of his family. He was a loving and devoted father, protective brother, dedicated uncle, and loyal friend. His love was deep and unconditional.

Gary was a Navy Veteran and served 3 years on the USS Tarawa. For 35 years he was the proud owner of Batchelder’s Auto Repair; a Reserve Gilroy Police Officer from 1970-1981 and was a trophy winning Marksman. He had a passion for music, Nascar and classic cars.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Valerie Batchelder, his parents Mary and Hugh Batchelder and his sister Linda Batchelder Crebs.

He is survived by his 2nd wife Sofia (Ling Yuan) Batchelder, his sister Phoebe Goold, his daughters; Julie Ann Rhodes and Cindy-Lynn Fellows, 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on April 25, 2026 @11:00 am and a Celebration at 1:00 pm at The Longhouse.
