IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frank G.
Arredondo
June 5, 1921 – September 23, 2021
It is with deep sadness, the Arredondo family announces the passing of Frank G. Arredondo at the age of 100. He was a beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Great Great-Grandfather.
Frank was born and raised in Brawley, California where he met Priscilla (Pat) Tapia who later became his wife of 64 years. Frank was drafted in 1942 during WWII and stationed in the Aleutian Islands until the end of the war. During his service, Priscilla gave birth to fraternal twins Frank Jr and Robert. Upon his discharge at the end of the war Frank returned to Brawley. He worked at a gas station until his brother Lupe got him hired with D'arrigo Brothers Produce. In 1948 Frank was offered an opportunity to help run Santa Cruz Farms in Eloy Arizona. He planned on being there for 3 months, but instead Frank and his family stayed for 20 years. In 1949 their son Patrick was born.
In 1968 he was asked to come back to California and to run the Gilroy Cactus farm. "What is a cactus farm?" he thought, but he helped establish a lucrative market for cactus pears and leaves in the area. In 2011 at 91 he retired after 64 years with the company.
Frank is survived by two sons Patrick, Robert and wife Frances, younger brother Chris, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Priscilla (Pat) and son Frank Jr.
He was loved by many family and friends. He was a wonderful story teller and we will greatly miss his love, humor and his personality.
Services will be held Monday, October 4, 2021, starting with a 9:00am viewing and 10:00am mass both at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial follows at St. Mary Cemetery.
