Floyd Bernard Hoiberg, entered peacefully into rest at Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy on July 1, 2012. Floyd was the son of an immigrant parent from Copenhagen Denmark. He was born in Huntley Montana, Big Horn County, November 27, 1918, and attended school there until he left to join the Air Force. After he was discharged from the military, he worked as a supervisor, building air planes at Lockheed in Los Angeles. He married Bessie Irene Files, a "Rosie the Riveter" on April 12. 1943 in Quartsite Arizona. Floyd & Bessie moved to Salinas were he worked as a mechanic working on farm equipment in the Salinas Valley from 1947 to 1985. Floyd & Bessie retired in 1986. They traveled and camped in their trailer home around most of California as members of Thousand Trails. After Bessie passed in 2000, he was a resident at Valley Pines, and Pacific Hills Manor. He also enjoyed his Adult Day Care at Live Oaks in Gilroy. Floyd had one last visit to his home in Montana, and visited many old places he knew as a child growing up. He met many old and new family members, and had an ariel view of the landscape by helicopter, with his grand nephew as pilot. This was a long time wish come true of which he spoke often.
Floyd is leaving behind three sons, Richard, Ronald, and Robert. Seven grandchildren, Christopher, Joseph, Elizabeth, Melissa, Matthew, Heather and Michelle. Five great grandchildren, Makayla, Sydney, Kaleb, Brandon, and Joseph. And numerous Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his two sisters Marie Schobert and Lorraine Stovall. He leaves an empty chair in our daily lives, but has now joined his beloved wife, his parents and siblings and other family members who have gone before.
Interment will be at 1:00 PM on August 10, 2012, with full military honors, at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, California. A celebration of his life will take place at 10:00 AM on August 11, 2012 at Calvary Chapel Gilroy, Gilroy, California.
